about

Captain Olu (known for his electronic interpretations of African rhythms and percussion) comes equipped with a sampler and synth machine in hand to take us on a journey through Apala and Waka music.

Both styles of music are intrinsically linked, originating from the Yoruba people of Nigeria during the late 1930s. Popular artists of the genre include Haruna Ishola, Ayinla Omowura, Batile Alake, and Munirat Abeo to name a few.

All proceeds will be donated to the Glorious Islamic Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
